Kentucky Youth Soccer Update 4/29

LEXINGTON, KY (April 29, 2020) -  The COVID-19 Virus (Coronavirus) continues to have an impact on all our local communities. This is a very fluid situation and will continue to evolve in the coming days and weeks. The safety of all our members continues to be our primary focus.

That being said, in order to assist with the on-going effort to assess the impact and combat COVID-19;

  • Kentucky Youth Soccer Board of Directors voted unanimously to suspend all state-run activities (Kentucky Premier League, 9U Academy, ODP and Coaching Education) through and including May 17, 2020.  Kentucky Youth Soccer will continue to monitor the COVID-19 virus and may be extended at a later time if deemed necessary.
  • Kentucky Youth Soccer Board of Directors voted unanimously to strongly recommend all member clubs to temporarily suspend all in-person soccer and related activities through and including May 17, 2020, with such recommendation and/or time period being subject to later change by the Board of Directors

All other club activities, including tournaments and team training, should review above and assess a course of action on a case-by-case basis. Any unaffiliated games will not be covered by Kentucky Youth Soccer insurance company.

  • Just like every business around the country, Kentucky Youth Soccer has spent the last 6 weeks working around the clock on behalf of our members. Unfortunately, today we are saddened to announce that the Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2020 select tournaments. This includes the Soccer Village Cup, Presidents Cup and State Cup due to the events surrounding COVID-19. From the beginning, our goal had been to offer something for our players to allow them the chance to get on the field in some way but only if it could be done in a safe manner. The top priority being the health and safety of players, coaches, referees, and anyone else involved with the game.

    The Kentucky Youth Soccer staff has been working diligently on alternative plans to host the events for our members.  We were hopeful to be able to run the events albeit on a delayed schedule. However, it has become evident from the announcement of Governor Andy Beshear’s phased rollouts for reopening the state, that there just will not be enough time to safely host these events.

It is critical that all of our members are aware of the most current and accurate information regarding Kentucky Youth Soccer related activities as events unfold in the coming days and weeks. This can be found on our website at and social media channels: Facebook and Twitter.

We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility during these unprecedented times.
